HAAi Drops New Single Ahead Of U.S. Tour For ‘DIGITiSE’

HAAi

HAAi is gearing up for the launch of her next album with a major U.S. touring run and a new single from the project, out today.

Punctuated by pulsing kick drums and chopped vocals spoken by frequent collaborator James Massiah, “I Wanna Feel Like Someone” follows ignition as the latest glimpse into DIGITiSE, due out on Mute on October 9, before the Australian-born, London-based producer and DJ takes the dancefloor-focused album on the road for four sets that get at the heart of what the project is all about.

Last fall, HAAi’s sophomore album, HUMANiSE, explored human existence in a machine-powered world. Juxtaposing the stories of her friends and collaborators—and most notably, her own—with cascading electronic beats and ambient drones, the project marked a relative slowdown compared to her usual club-focused output, reflecting on life from the spaces she holds dearest off the dance floor.

Now, DIGITiSE keeps the same ethos at its core, but finds itself at home beneath the club lights, written between the artist’s globetrotting DJ sets, road-tested in clubs, and shaped by the response of dancers in the room.

It’s a concept that comes to life again as HAAi brings DIGITiSE stateside this October, opening with appearances at Miami’s III Points and the festival’s official Satellite afterparty at The Ground at Club Space on October 17, ahead of a 10-hour marathon set at Refuge in New York City on October 18, where she’ll play from 4PM to 2AM. An additional appearance in San Francisco will be announced soon, according to a press release.

“Following my last NYC set at Public Records, which was eight hours, I decided to switch into another gear and give myself an extra two hours to really explore my collection,” HAAi said in a statement. “Playing long sets is how I came up as a DJ, so 10 hours really feels like my comfort zone. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

On the new track, she added: “‘I Wanna Feel Like Someone’ is a track that is purely made from memories of my sets over the years. It’s a nod to so much of the music I play and have played, and was a really fun track to make for the dancefloor.”
