Hamdi is taking things back to the underground with an “intimate clubs only” tour this spring.
The Oxford, UK-hailing bass star announced the North American run, dubbed the “Abomination Club Tour” after his newest single, on social media today. After marking his recent move to Chicago with a residency run at the city’s 10,000-capacity Cermak Hall in March, he’ll swap the massive warehouse for the low ceilings and dark, sweaty rooms of six intimate nightclubs, beginning with Toronto’s CODA on April 4.
The producer and DJ—real name Alexander Hamdi—is then slated to play Montreal’s Newspeak, Denver’s Club Vinyl, an event with Atlanta renegade and livestream crew DEF, and H0L0 in Brooklyn through April 25. Each venue is capped at no more than 600 tickets. Check out the full list of dates in the post below.
Though Hamdi’s trademark blend of UK bass, grime and OG dubstep have propelled him to some of the world’s biggest festival stages in recent years, his foremost bangers, including hit tracks like “Skanka,” “Counting,” and his high-profile Skrillex collaboration, “Push,” remain rooted in the sound of dubstep’s early days, when tracks were purpose-built to be heard on the biggest and baddest sound rig around, in near-total darkness.
Now, the new tour appears to dive back into that ethos as Hamdi gears up to unload fresh tunes with a more “club-focused” feel, including his latest dubbed-out, bassline-heavy single, “Abomination.”
“Been wanting to do a run of purely intimate venues with sick sound for a while and I’ve been making a lott of club focused music recently so now felt like the perfect time!” Hamdi wrote on Instagram today. “See you in the dance – it’s gonna be an abomination!”
Pre-sale registration for Hamdi’s “Abomination Club Tour” is now open here. Pre-sale ticket access will begin this Thursday, February 13 at 10AM ET. For more information, visit Hamdi’s Instagram page.
