The highly anticipated EP by Hamdi, titled Simplicity, has finally dropped on the UK label DEEP MEDi Musik. This three-track EP showcases some of Hamdi’s best work so far while honoring the legendary UK imprint.
The EP begins with “Killa,” which shows a deeper side of his music. With only one word repeated in the track, “Killa,” Hamdi uses his production abilities to tell a story with the track. The single has a slower, one-minute build-up, with a drop that is deep and grimy (in the best way).
“Second Mouse” is the second track on the EP and is inspiring for listeners everywhere. Sampling Christopher Walken’s speech in Catch Me If You Can, the record tells the story of two mice trying to crawl out of cream. While the first mouse struggled, the second mouse churned the cream into butter and was able to crawl out, essentially reminding listeners not to give up and to learn from other’s mistakes, with his signature Hamdi spin.
Last but not least, the EP rounds out with “Simplicity.” This track is simple (pun intended) but brilliant, featuring a slower and deeper dubstep sound to finish off the work perfectly.
Overall, Simplicity showcases a new direction for dubstep and how UKG influences are coming into the spotlight, especially in the US. Hamdi is about to complete his North American SHOWCASE Tour and will make a festival run this summer.
