A new study by NetCredit has analyzed Spotify data and found the highest-earning EDM tracks in nearly every country across the world.
NetCredit utilized each country’s “weekly totals” chart from Kworb as figures to represent the total number of streams for songs that have spent at least one week in the top weekly charts of Spotify.
They then sorted the songs into genres using the Spotify API and used Spotify’s pay-per-stream rate of $0.005 to calculate total earnings.
Popular EDM songs include the Imanbek remix of “Roses” by SAINt JHN in Europe, the Pnau remix of “Cold Heart” by Elton John in South America, and The Chainsmokers’ “Closer” in the US.
Tiësto, Avicii, Major Lazer, DJ Snake, and Marshmello also appear across the global list.
But the top-earning song across all genres was “Sunflower” by Post Malone, written for the feature film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018.
