Man Walks From Manchester To Ibiza, Raises Over $160,000 For Charity

Henry Moores, the 21-year-old Macclesfield, UK native who committed to walking from Manchester to Ibiza for charity, has arrived on the island.

After walking over 1,400 miles in 66 days, Moores arrived on the White Isle yesterday, June 16. He was received at Lineker’s Bar in San Antonio by nightlife magnate and Ocean Beach Ibiza club owner Wayne Lineker, who helped sponsor the trip, and a crowd of supporters.

Back in February, Moores announced that he would be making the trek to raise money for the Tony Hudgell Foundation, a charity that provides support to children impacted by physical, psychological, or emotional abuse. For the final steps of the journey, he was joined by Tony Hudgell, a 7-year-old double amputee who helped start the foundation in 2020.

Moores walked roughly the length of a marathon on each day of his trip, beginning with a 315-mile trudge from Manchester to Portsmouth. He then traveled by ferry from Portsmouth to Caen, France before walking 1,130 miles to Denia, Spain, where he boarded the ferry to Ibiza ahead of the final miles of his journey. He only rested for two days throughout the trip.

Moores has raised over £127,000 (around $161,000 USD) for the Tony Hudgell Foundation. His initial fundraising target of £20,000 has since been increased to £150,000 (around $190,000 USD).

“I’m a very charitable person,” Moores told Euro News last week. “I’ve always wanted to do something massive, something maybe a bit stupid and to catch the attention of people’s eyes. And I’ve always flirted with the idea of walking to Spain.”

The feat marks Moores’ second impactful hike for charity. In October 2024, he walked from Macclesfield to Paris, raising nearly £20,000 (over $25,000 USD) to provide Christmas meals and gifts, rent money, counseling, school supplies and more for the less fortunate in Cheshire and Greater Manchester, UK.
