Claptone released their lauded LP Closer all the way back in November of last year, but the remixes keep coming. The latest reimagining of one of the album’s track is a refined version of “Beautiful” from none other than the UK’s own James Hype.
Known for his 2017 soulful single “More Than Friends,” Hype has demonstrated over the last few years an adept prowess in utilizing vocals. Where Claptone’s original version of “Beautiful” is melodious dance jam, the James Hype remix pulls the power out of lau.ra‘s singing and lays it against a minimal atmosphere. Nothing left except the humanity of the voice and an unquenchable, bass-driven groove.
