John Summit Apologizes For Twitter Lawsuit Drama, Looks Ahead To Rebrand

After accusing an independent promoter of suing him over the name of his label and event series, Off The Grid, John Summit publicly apologized and has announced plans to rebrand his label.

Last week, Summit claimed on Twitter that he was “getting sued for trademark” due to similarities between the name of his label and an independent event Off The Grid Campout, which has been using the name since 2015.

Summit added that the alleged lawsuit was worth “7+ figures.”

Pandemonium ensued as Summit’s devoted fans lashed out online, directing a majority of the fervor towards Michael Cromie Jr. of True Entertainment, who operates Off The Grid Campout.

Cromie released a statement on Facebook shortly thereafter, saying there were “no threats or demands of seven figures” and adding that Summit’s fanbase was attempting to “bully” him.

In light of the animosity happening online, Summit officially put the dispute to rest via Twitter yesterday, writing:

“About the label name, I acted out of emotion and truly apologize for all the drama I stirred up in taking it to social media. I’ve been talking w the OTG campout team and apologized to them directly but I also wanted to do so publicly. They’ve agreed to stop pursuing legal action & my team and I are working on a rebrand.”

Summit continued, “All we want now is for both our communities to come together and be able to dance as one.”

Today, Summit shared a message sent to him by Off The Grid Campout, indicating negative comments directed toward the brand have ceased and that even some of Summit’s fans have apologized.

Alongside the image, Summit tweeted, “So fkn happy to hear this from OTG campout and proud of u all for listening and treating them w the respect they deserve.”
