John Summit and Kaskade have joined forces to release their new collaborative single, “Resonate.”
The pulsating techno track arrives today on Summit’s own Experts Only imprint in partnership with Darkroom Records, and joins “Shiver,” “EAT THE BASS,” and “Go Back” as the fourth single off of Summit’s forthcoming debut album, Comfort In Chaos, which is slated for release on July 12.
Though the last two years have seen Summit contribute chart-topping remixes of Kaskade’s iconic collaborations with deadmau5—“I Remember” and “Escape”—“Resonate” marks the first original collaborative production from the pair of Chicago dance music heavyweights.
Summit and Kaskade have built a roller coaster of electro-tinged sounds on the track, which opens with psychedelic piano chords and hazy vocals from singer-songwriter Julia Church, herself returning to collaborate with Summit following the release of “Go Back” with Sub Focus last month.
Soon, a thumping kick drum enters the fold, the tempo changes and the momentum builds before dropping into a pounding techno beat punctuated by fluttering synth chords, finding balance between the ethereal and gritty sounds of both producer’s recent hits.
“It is exciting to see talent coming out of my hometown, Chicago,” Kaskade said in a press release of the collaboration with Summit, who has continually noted Kaskade as a source of inspiration throughout his career.
“I’ve been keeping an eye on John Summit since he kicked the door down to be in this world and I couldn’t be any happier for his success,” Kaskade continued. “I knew we would collaborate from day one, and ‘Resonate’ is our first offering. It’s been an easy fit working and playing live with him, and I’m stoked to see what comes next.”
Following his Everything Always B2B performance with Dom Dolla at Electric Forest last night, Summit will play a solo set at the Michigan festival tomorrow ahead of further landmark appearances later this year in Mykonos, Ibiza, and his sold-out debut at New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden.
