As the first move in their highly anticipated 2024 return, Justice have shared a teaser video with new music.
Today, the legendary French duo comprised of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay posted a 30-second video clip to their social media channels alongside the caption “Happy New Year.” The video shows a VU meter bobbing along to an unreleased track that harkens back to their famed electro sound.
News of Justice’s return after a five-year hiatus was first confirmed by Ed Banger label founder Pedro Winter–AKA Busy P–in June 2023.
Speaking to French radio news outlet France Inter, Winter said, “The return of Justice. Now it’s official. I can tell you now. There will be a new album and a new tour in 2024.”
The new album will be Justice’s fourth studio LP and their first since 2016’s Woman. The only work to materialize from either member of the esteemed pair in the time since Woman is Augé’s 2021 solo album, Escapades.
Winter later shared that Justice’s forthcoming LP evokes the same excitement he felt when he first heard the duo’s debut album, †, or “Cross,” 16 years ago. The album went on to earn Grammy nominations for Best Dance/Electronic Album and Best Dance Recording in 2008.
“Listening to ‘Cross,’ I had goosebumps–I loved each and every note of this record, and I have goosebumps when I’m listening to the forthcoming Justice album, too,” he told NME.
During their hiatus, Justice celebrated their 15-year milestone by releasing an anniversary reissue of †, in addition to the original demo and remixes of their 2007 smash hit “D.A.N.C.E.”
