Kevin Saunderson Links With Son Dantiez For First e-Dancer Album In 25 Years

Kevin Saunderson

Kevin Saunderson is reviving his iconic e-Dancer alias for its full album in over 25 years.

The Detroit techno legend announced today that the self-titled LP, written and recorded with his son Dantiez, is due out on May 21, marking the “first LP of totally original e-Dancer material” since he debuted the project with Heavenly back in 1998.

Following a previous studio collaboration on We All Move Together—the 2020 comeback album for Saunderson’s famed house group, Inner City—Saunderson and Dantiez relaunched e-Dancer as a duo in October 2024, bringing the project’s brooding but groove-laden 1990s sound into the future with the release of the new album’s lead single, “Melodica.”

Another new single, “Emotions,” is out today and will join eight more tracks on the forthcoming album, which Saunderson described on Instagram as “the sound of the Saunderson family taking it back to the raw.”

“When I decided to make music, my path was to make people dance. It always will be. Dance is happiness; it’s joyful,” Saunderson said in a statement. It’s a connection between different cultures, races and people worldwide. I know it’s in Dantiez’s DNA too. When people hear the album, I hope they hear the connection between a father and son on the same path of creating music.”

On the decks, Sanuderson and Dantiez have collaborated for over a decade, first linking up for a B2B with Boiler Room in Chicago and later touring renowned festivals and venues like Glastonbury and the Warehouse Project for Inner City’s live return after a 30-year hiatus.

Just days after the album’s scheduled release this spring, Saunderson will team up with Dantiez and his other son, Damarii, for a special Kevin Saunderson B2B The Saunderson Brothers performance at Detroit’s famous Movement Music Festival, which the KMS Records boss helped create in 2000.
