World-famous tropical house producer Kygo is partnering with Snapchat to transform his upcoming show at London’s Gunnersbury Park this weekend.
Snapchat’s popular augmented reality “lenses” will help to elevate the visual production at Kygo’s upcoming shows, where over 25 moments from his set will trigger additional visual features within the Snapchat app.
After Snapchat signed a multi-year contract with Live Nation in April, the company has brought their AI lens technology to a number music festivals this year, partnering on augmented reality content at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, EDC Las Vegas and more.
Snapchat AR at these festivals has been primarily focused on venue navigation, with real time 3D maps of the festival site. AR lenses have been used at concerts before, but this is the first time they will change throughout a live performance based on which song is being played.
Kygo’s lens will also work during his summer residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza and his Palm Tree Festival at the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Snapchat’s Head of Music, Manny Adler said, “Kygo is a highly innovative artist who is always pushing the boundaries of how an audience can experience a live DJ set, so it was a no-brainer to bring Snap’s augmented reality to his shows this summer.”
