Kasablanca and Lane 8 have teamed up to release their heart-warming tune, “Remission,” paying homage to Micky, (1/2 of the Kasablanca duo) who was diagnosed with cancer last fall.
This song marks the return of Kasablanca, as last fall they had to pause all shows and performances as Micky underwent emergency surgery and aggressive chemotherapy treatment to help his cancer.
In January of this year, Kasablanca released an Instagram post explaining Micky’s diagnosis and promised to release music as soon as he is cancer free. On February 26, the duo announced that Micky was in remission, and what better way to celebrate than a live performance at Ultra Miami, where they debuted “Remission” with Lane 8.
Lane 8 and Kasablanca have collaborated in the past, releasing “Run” in 2020 which was met with high praise. They decided to keep working together and have pushed each other not only musically, but as friends as well.
Lane 8, real name Daniel Goldstein, thought this could mean the end for Kasablanca, but was thoroughly inspired when Micky wanted to make music during his chemo treatments.
“Remission” is a celebration of life and love and reflects the melodic house sound both Lane 8 and Kasablanca are known for. The beautiful and euphoric tune reminds listeners that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and life can get better after hardship.
