Liquid Death & Spotify Release Urn With Built-In Speaker

Liquid Death Spotify

Liquid Death and Spotify are teaming up to soundtrack your afterlife with an urn that plays music.

The canned water company, known for its famously out-there marketing campaigns, and the digital streaming platform have come together to create the “Eternal Playlist Urn,” a vessel for holding your ashes upon death, outfitted with a Bluetooth speaker.

Retailing for $495 in limited quantities in the U.S., the device is described by Spotify as “a collector’s item for anyone looking to take their love for music to the next level.”

The urn release arrives alongside the launch of Spotify’s new Eternal Playlist Generator, which asks listeners questions about ghosts and the afterlife to recommend a personalized playlist for their journey into the great beyond.

A tongue-in-cheek promo video also suggests the musical urn is good for warding off ghosts: “Research shows if you keep the dead happy, they’re less likely to haunt you. Music has been shown to reduce hauntings by up to 47 percent, so give them what they’re asking for, with the latest innovation in being dead.”

It’s not the first strange PR stunt we’ve seen from Liquid Death. Last year, the company sold iced tea sipped by Ozzy Osborne—and therefore infused with his DNA—for $450 per can.
