6,000 clubbers will be participating in a COVID-secure trial in Liverpool this month.
On April 30 and May 1, 3,00 clubbers will be invited to attend Liverpool’s Bramley-Moore Dock each day (6,000 for both days) for two of DJ and producer Yousef’s Circus events. During both days of the event, the ERP (Events Research Programme) will be able to monitor and study the club environment and COVID-19. In order to be allowed into the event, attendees must live within a Liverpool postcode and must present a rapid COVID-19 test prior to the event. In addition to the initial test, a second test will be distributed sometime after the event. The Director of Culture and Tourism in Liverpool, Claire McColgan, had the following to say about Liverpool’s event trials,
“Liverpool is an event city. They are a critical part of our economy, culture and community and so we are delighted to be working with partners across Government, our colleagues at University of Liverpool and a number of local venues and promoters to plan this series of pilot events.”
It will be interesting to see how this study helps bring back live events in Liverpool, and whether or not it will have a greater impact on the future of live events and event safety going forward.
