Nashville-based DJ and producer Logan Garrett has released his new house-meets-country single, “Move,” featuring rising Carolina recording artist Anella.
As a staple DJ in Music City, Garrett has long been committed to bridging electronic music and hip-hop with Nashville’s world-class country music scene. Now, after witnessing the success of this overlap on the local club circuit, he’s crafted his latest track with an eye for blurring genre lines even further, teaming up with pop-country rapper Anella.
Drawing inspiration from disco and the trending sounds of stutter house, “Move” marries the most prominent elements of modern house music and modern country, with chopped-up synths, groovy chord stabs, and Anella’s melodic twang laid over a properly bouncing bassline.
“Playing as a DJ in Nashvillle, I’m constantly challenged to find records that can provide a country feel, but fit within a dance / electronic set,” Garrett said in a statement. “I made ‘Move’ with the intention of fitting somewhere in that blur of boundaries.”
Answering Garrett’s call to that end was Trinity, North Carolina’s Anella, who has jumped to the front of the rap-country pack with his viral singles, signing with Def Jam in 2022 and earning a feature on Diplo’s country project. This spring, he’ll support Lil Wayne and Quavo on their stadium tour.
“Anella’s unique take on country and hip-hop creates exactly the sound this record needs,” Garrett said of the collaboration. “The record delivers a clean energy that I was able to test with crowds, gauge their reactions and adjust the record.”
“Move” follows Garrett’s 2024 tech house single, “Deep End,” featuring rapper Skizzy Mars, as the artist’s first release of the new year. Faithful to his roots in hip-hop, he’s also previously collaborated with rappers Roscoe Dash, Rich Boy, Gorilla Zoe, and Starlito.
