At Lollapalooza Brazil this past weekend, Drake could not perform his headlining set and was promptly replaced by dance music superstar Skrillex. But due to some audience backlash, the festival has begun to offer refunds.
Rap megastar Drake was supposed to close out Lollapalooza Brazil in Sao Paulo this past weekend but pulled out hours before due to technical issues.
The statement from the festival’s social media said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Drake is without members of his sound and production team, essential to the realization of the Lollapalooza show in Sao Paulo. Drake was excited to perform for his fans in Brazil. Unfortunately, this is beyond his control.”
Dance music fans were elated to hear he would be replaced by the electronic pioneer Skrillex, who was not initially listed on the lineup.
Yet, rap fans were not as pleased, leading the festival to begin offering refunds to those who did not attend the final day of Lollapalooza Brazil due to Drake’s absence.
Drake has already received backlash from South American fans as his performances at Lollapalooza Argentina and Chile lasted only 50 minutes, shorter than the usual headlining set. He also decided minutes before that he did not want his set to be livestreamed via Lollapalooza’s channels.
