LP Giobbi has finally released her breathtaking debut LP Light Places, a 13-track album full of piano house classics, indie-inspired jams, and dancefloor bangers.
The album features prominent collaborations from personal friends and inspirations including Sofi Tukker, Little Jet, Caroline Byrne, Monogem, DJ Tennis, and Joseph Ashworth.
Many of the songs tug at the heartstrings with an emotional groove like “All In A Dream” and “Can’t Let You Go,” while “If Love Is A Skill” and “Feels Just Like It” are perfect club anthems.
“Georgia” is a particular standout with a powerful drum fill and building vocal that is euphoric and heart-stopping.
Light Places is a tribute to Giobbi’s parents, titling the intro “Mother” and writing many of the pieces with her father’s love for the Grateful Dead in mind.
The inspiration for the title came from a lyric from the band’s song “Scarlet Begonias,” “Once in a while, you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.”
Speaking about the homage, Giobbi said, “These are some of my dad’s favorite Dead lyrics and almost a philosophy for the way he lives and taught my brother and me to live. I am a seeker of light places both in the physical and the divine. I believe in letting yourself get lost and finding out it’s exactly where you were supposed to be.”
