Major Lazer Releases New Album Ahead Of Tour

Today is a big day for Major Lazer with the kick-off show of their latest tour and a brand new studio album all at once. The long-awaited album, Music Is The Weapon, is the first full album release since 2015. The iconic trio (comprised of Diplo, Walshy Fire and Ape Drums) is one of the most unique electronic music groups that has defined themselves by a crossover of genres topped with a Jamaican flare and heart-thumping baselines. Their latest album is no different, featuring classic signatures accompanied by mixed genres that include vocals by Nicki Minaj, J Balvin, Anitta, Khalid, and others.

Major Lazer consistently draws from all parts of the globe as inspiration for their music. The group has toured all over the world to host performances in even the most remote locations for electronic music including Pakistan, Cuba, and Nigeria as part of a full global music movement. Music Is The Weapon showcases the groups dedication to uniting the world through music by incorporating a mix of styles with vocals in five different languages. Aside from the well-known artists listed above, Major Lazer incorporated collaborations with upcoming artists from other countries including Chilean artist Paloma Mami, Jamaican-born Sheensea, and Indian vocalist Rashmeet Kaur.

The album features a total of twelve tracks and is accompanied by official lyric videos out today on Youtube. Major Lazer has also released six Lazerism episodes on Spotify that provide insight into their latest album alongside a backstory into the making and inspiration behind Music Is The Weapon. The album release perfectly coincides with the kick-off of their socially-distance drive-in style tour that takes place today in Riverside. While the show is sold out any several locations already, the release of this incredible alum is certain to drive sales across the country as fans gather to dance to the latest by this talented group.
