Victoria de Angelis, the renowned bass player of chart-topping Italian rock band Måneskin, is breaking new ground in electronic music with her debut single, “GET UP B*TCH (Shake Ya Ass).”
The jarring techno cut arrives today on Sony Music Germany’s new noted. Records imprint in partnership with Sony Music Italy, and sees the prolific instrumentalist, otherwise known simply as Victoria, trade strings for DAWs as she launches a new solo career in electronic music.
“GET UP BITCH (Shake Ya Ass)” kicks off Victoria’s new project at blistering speed, melding gritty techno beats with rageful topline vocals from Brazilian sensation Anitta. Packed with punk spirit, the track is uncompromising in its ambition to break the rules and do away with dancefloor inhibitions, further emblematic of the artist’s rock and roll heroics.
During her worldwide touring endeavors with Måneskin, who sit atop the modern rock and roll scene with hits like “I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE” and “Beggin’,” Victoria discovered a connection between the groove of her bass and the kick drums of the club while DJing at the band’s concert afterparties and diving deep into the thriving underground party scenes of Milan and Berlin.
Now, after embarking on her first-ever DJ tour, which included a landmark appearance for Circoloco at DC-10 Ibiza in March, she’s blending these influences with an in-demand Y2K aesthetic as trending “party girl” and “indie sleaze” sensibilities continue to take hold of the global music scene.
