Martin Garrix has been crowned the world’s No. 1 DJ in DJ Mag’s 2024 Top 100 DJs Poll.
Revealed live on stage last weekend at the 2024 edition of AMF, which Garrix headlined during this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, the Dutch chart-topper’s fifth No. 1 placing in the fan-voted poll ties fellow countryman Armin van Buuren’s record for most Top 100 DJs poll wins. Dating back to 2016, Garrix has earned the top spot in five of the last nine polls.
Garrix jumped last year’s No. 1 DJ, David Guetta, who won three out of the last four rankings, as well as two-time No. 1 ranked duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, who finished at No. 2 in the 2023 poll and have remained in the top five for over a decade.
“I’m in the list with all my idols — I look up to Armin, I look up to Tiësto. To be in there with those guys is very surreal,” Garrix told DJ Mag. “My No. 1 worry when I entered the list, and topped the list, was that it could only go downhill from here, so it’s very special we’re back at the No.1 spot.”
Rounding out the top five are Brazilian DJ Alok, who placed No. 4 for a fourth consecutive year, and Australian big room favorite Timmy Trumpet, who jumped one spot to No. 5. Placing at No. 6, Armin van Buuren has dropped out of the top five for the first time in 20 years but was still ranked as the world’s No. 1 trance DJ.
Other genre-specific crowns went to FISHER, the world’s No. 1 house DJ and No. 8 overall; Charlotte de Witte, the world’s No. 1 techno DJ and No. 16 overall; and Sara Landry, who earned the trophy for the world’s No. 1 hard DJ and placed No. 75 overall, marking the first time the “catch-all” award for hard sounds has been won by a hard techno artist, according to DJ Mag.
