Today, underground house staple Michael Bibi announced on his social media the tragic news that he has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
The London-based artist posted that he was diagnosed with CNS Lymphoma, “A very rare cancer that affects the brain and spine.”
Bibi is heading into the hospital to start treatment immediately, meaning he will be unable to make his upcoming performances such as at Parklife next weekend, OFFWEEK Festival in Barcelona, and Solid Grooves On The Dock in London.
Bibi seems positive, stating in the announcement, “I’m tired but I know I am strong and I won’t let this beat me.”
Support has been pouring in from all across the industry with artists like Martin Garrix, Eric Prydz, John Summit, CamelPhat, and Sonny Fodera wishing him health and recovery.
Michael Bibi is the label boss and head of Solid Grooves and has been passionate about music since he was 14 when he acquired a pair of Numark belt drive turntables for the first time, immediately jumping into DJing as an “obsession.”
Our thoughts are with Michael Bibi as he goes through this difficult time.
