London’s famous Ministry of Sound nightclub is kicking it old-school.
In celebration of its 33rd birthday this weekend, the UK nightlife institution will sell drinks and tickets for the same price it did when the club first opened in 1991.
For each event Ministry of Sound hosts over the next 12 months, the club will sell a limited number of 100 tickets priced at only £5 (under $7 USD)—totaling 20,000 tickets available at this price point over the course of the year.
The special offer will begin during the club’s two-night run of birthday shows this weekend, which are set to host performances from UK Garage legend Mella Dee, house and techno club staple Carista, Groove Armada, and more on September 27-28.
Ministry of Sound will also sell Bacardi & Cokes “at 90s prices,” organizers announced on social media yesterday, paying further homage to the club’s birthday and marking 30 years since the venue obtained its liquor license. Exact prices have not yet been revealed, and the discount will only be available from 10PM to 12AM during the birthday shows.
“Let’s talk about the elephant (& castle) in the club — the UK’s shrinking late-night scene. We see the stats, and we’re not standing idly by,” the club wrote in a statement. “Our mission? Keep clubbing accessible and affordable for Gen Z, Alphas, Betas, and anyone who believes in the power of club culture. Here’s to the next 33 years of culture, sound, and breaking rules.”
