Kayla Boisvert’s family has confirmed she has been found safe after she was reported missing following Canada’s Shambhala Music Festival.
The announcement shared yesterday on @kaylaboisvertismissing, a since-deleted Instagram page created by her twin sister Dianna, followed several days of coordinated search efforts involving family members, volunteers, festival staff, law enforcement, and Salmo Search and Rescue.
In a statement, the family confirmed Kayla has been safely reunited with her family and thanked everyone who assisted in the search. The family shared that they believe Boisvert’s disappearance may have been linked to a “mental health crisis.”
Any remaining donated funds from a GoFundMe campaign that raised more than $20,000 will be donated to Salmo Search and Rescue.
Boisvert, a paramedic from Trenton, Ontario, attended Shambhala Music Festival, which took place from July 24-27 at Salmo River Ranch in British Columbia. She was last seen on the festival grounds at approximately 2:15AM PT on July 27.
Shortly before she disappeared, Boisvert attempted to call her twin sister, Dianna. Dianna later said she was asleep when the call came in and that when she immediately returned the call, it went straight to voicemail, according to CBC News.
During the search, police confirmed a reported sighting of Boisvert and released surveillance images showing her south of Salmo at approximately 8:30PM on July 29. No additional details about the circumstances surrounding Boisvert’s disappearance have been released.
Boisvert’s family has asked for privacy as they move forward.
