Chart-topping duo Moksi is splitting up. Diego Stijnen, a.k.a. MC DMC, is going solo after eight years of working on the project.
The news was announced on their social media with a long message from Stijnen saying, “With a heavy heart I’ve decided that it’s time for me to leave Moksi.”
He continued, “I’m ready to take my experience as an MC and producer to the next level. I want to evolve and establish myself as a solo artist. I’m ready for the next chapter in my life. The last 8 years were a dream and I’ll always look back on it like that!”
Moksi’s Instagram feed and bio have been wiped as the artists prepare for their new creative journeys separately, with Stijnen starting a new project called SUMMUM.
There is only one piece so far on the Soundcloud for SUMMUM called “A2,” a bouncy yet smooth and groovy piece of music that could be a sneak peek of what’s to come from the solo artist.
There seems to be no hard feelings between the two creatives as their Facebook still contains all of the memories the team created over the past eight years.
Moksi emerged in 2015 with their debut EP, Brace Yourself, on Yellow Claw‘s label, Barong Family, before working with top artists like Chocolate Puma, Hardwell, Curbi, and more. Their tracks like “Tidalwave,” “Gipsy,” and “Slow Burn” have reached several million streams on Spotify.
