Monster Energy Up & Up Festival has just announced Matroda as its headliner for fall 2024.
The Croatian-born producer and DJ, known for his bass-driven tech house hits like “Forget It” and “Can’t Fight The Feeling,” will perform on five college campuses as part of the nation’s largest and longest-running college music tour.
With no pre-determined dates or route, Up & Up invites more than 80 college student ambassador teams nationwide to compete to earn their school its own stop on the tour. Each campus team will rally its classmates for a 48-hour pre-sale ticket sell-off using its own Instagram handles, guerilla marketing strategies, and influencer campaigns.
The top five schools with the most pre-sale tickets sold at the end of the competition will win a headline performance from Matroda and the chance to co-produce the tour stop, collaborating with Up & Up producers to bring the event to a nearby venue with their own DJ openers, content team, and parties.
“I’ve always loved the energy and enthusiasm of college crowds, and that’s why I’ve teamed up with the Monster Energy Up & Up Festival,” Matroda said in a press release. “They will be allowing five lucky colleges to promote a proper house festival with me as a headliner—super excited for this one and cannot wait to party with you.”
Since its launch in 2016, Up & Up’s tour model has redefined the college concert experience, doing away with conventional programming boards and middle buyers to offer college students valuable industry experience in music business and event management, all the while ensuring that artists play gigs where they’re most desired and keeping ticket prices low.
“Up & Up is such a unique way to not only bring more live music to college students but also involve them in the experience of selling tickets, producing a show, and working in a team of people with a love for music,” said Kailey Dodson, who helped bring Disco Lines to Cal Poly with Up & Up last spring. “There’s nothing else quite like Up & Up, and every college student should take this opportunity to be a part of it.”
Up & Up’s fall 2024 competition will kick off on September 17 at 4PM ET. Events will be held from October through November.
