Ahead Of Movement Festival, Mayor Officially Proclaims This Week “Detroit Techno Week”

Detroit Techno Week

It’s officially Detroit Techno Week.

As the Motor City prepares for the 20th-anniversary edition of Movement Music Festival this weekend, Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield yeterday signed a proclamation officially recognizing the week of May 18-26, 2026, as “Detroit Techno Week,” honoring the festival’s weeklong spirit of music, culture, and community.

Known for amassing lineups that link cutting-edge DJs with the sounds of Detroit’s legacy as the birthplace of techno, Movement also brings an estimated $20 million boost to the city’s economy each year, as more than 30,000 music fans descend upon the annual electronic music celebration.

Movement returns to the riverfront Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit from May 23-25. This year’s lineup features Sara Landry, Dom Dolla, Carl Cox (live), Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex, Green Velvet (also performing as Cajmere B2B with Carl Craig), KI/KI, Barry Can’t Swim, Mochakk, Danny Brown, Dax J (live), and many more.
