A New East Coast Music Festival Intends To Run On 100% Renewable Energy

A new electronic music festival on the East Coast may be the first event ever to run on fully renewable energy.

Future Spirit Festival, 45 minutes outside of Boston, is running a Kickstarter campaign to cover the entirety of the music event’s power requirements on-site with renewable energy.

The donation goal of $25,000 would cover almost a third of the 80,000 kWh power requirement needed. By partnering with clean energy companies, Future Spirit Festival hopes to be the first festival in the US to have all of its production powered by clean energy.

Other international festivals with 100% renewable energy sources include Shambhala, The Green Gathering, and Green Man.

From May 27-28, 2023, the camping, music, and arts festival will host local favorite electronic artists like Shizz Lo, Asteroid Afterparty, BVRNOUT, and Ace On Earth.

Other sustainable actions by the organization include composting toilets, sustainability workshops, and the opportunity to submit an idea for a greener festival to win a free festival ticket.
