Nintendo Launches Its Own Music Streaming Platform, Nintendo Music

Nintendo Music

Nintendo is leveling up with its own music streaming platform, Nintendo Music.

Launched last week as part of the company’s Nintendo Switch Online suite, the new service lets users stream the company’s catalog of iconic soundtracks from video game franchises like Super Mario, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Animal Crossing and many more.

The app is now available via the Wii and Switch gaming consoles and is a free mobile app, though users will need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership to gain access. The subscription, which also includes backup cloud storage, online multiplayer access for select titles, and a catalog of Game Boy, NES, and Super Nintendo games, costs $5.95 per month.

Much like other digital streaming platforms, Nintendo Music allows users to save and download music for offline listening. Its library, organized by game, features playlists themed around characters, in-game moments like boss battles, and moods. It also has a unique spoiler prevention feature, which hides tracks and other details that might give away twist endings, final bosses, and other spoilers for chosen games.

And in good news for the since-viral lads who paraded around Defqon.1 to the ceaseless tune of the Wii menu music in 2023—users can extend a selection of tracks, seamlessly looped for up to 60 minutes.
