After a two year hiatus, Paper Diamond a.k.a. Alex Botwin released “WORK9000” on January 30, 2018. The song is featured exclusively on his SoundCloud as of right now with hopes it will be placed into the Spotify library.
His long awaited return holds promise for new tracks. Alex has been announced as a “pioneer of bass music” by Fools Gold Records. The newest release mimics his fun hype vibe with the underlying tone of galactic exploration.
Paper Diamond was signed onto the Pretty Lights Label in 2010. He then later released his first album Levitate in 2011.
He was also mentioned as “Godly Bass Funk” by Billboard just recently.
During his interview with Billboard, he also stated:
“Making the new music has been been a very immersive process. After playing shows on the road for a few years, I thought it would be important to get back to the root of where it began. Focusing on the music itself. Making it a daily practice to create something new. I believe that frequency can help breed creativity and doing something every single day will give you more opportunities to make something amazing. It also takes away the pressure of ALWAYS creating something amazing on the spot, so you can focus more on being yourself.
The new music is a good representation of me drowning out the outside world and making what comes naturally. I didn’t limit myself to one style, genre, bpm, or idea and focused more on musical spontaneity. Naturally, by the time things are finished they have a cohesive Paper Diamond feeling to them, but they always start from unknown inspiration.” – Alex Botwin
Many fans have been anticipating his return – which can be seen in the statements they left in the SoundCloud comment bar.
