Paul van Dyk needs no introduction. After decades of defining the dance music scene worldwide, the veteran producer and DJ could never put out new music again and still remain relevant as ever. However, new music from the legend is always welcome, and he just dropped his first single of 2021, “Wishful Thinking.”
This new track is a collaboration with the ascending newcomer, Kolonie. A mainstay of Tiësto‘s Avanti record label, Kolonie has demonstrated he can hold his own among the greats (like van Dyk) with his taste for seething melodies and airtight kicks.
With van Dyk, the two have honored the uplifting sounds of trance that van Dyk proliferated among the global dance community. There is motion on the lows, mids, and highs of “Wishful Thinking,” but all the motion flows together.
The release is rounded out by a heavy trance club mix from van Dyk, and an exclusive mix coming soon as an NFT.
