Spotify recently updated their holiday songs playlist last Friday with a little twist. Spotify now has stories. Yes, you read that right. Spotify is currently testing the implementation of Instagram-like stories by including popular artists such as Pentatonix, Jennifer Lopez, and Kelly Clarkson, amongst others. Not only are these artists on Spotify’s, “Holiday Hit’s,” playlist but they can also be seen on other Spotify implemented playlists including, “An enhanced version of Megan Thee Stallion’s debut album, Good News,” per Engadget.

Spotify has been working on the idea of Instagram-like stories and the implementation of artists as early as last year. Now, the biggest social media platforms including LinkedIn, Snapchat, YouTube, and Twitter have all followed Instagram’s use of stories and have implemented them into their own platforms in their own unique way. It will be exciting to see what Spotify decides to do with their Instagram-like story implementation and whether or not they choose to continue down this road.
