Printworks Plans To Return In Three Years, Says Broadwick Live

The organizers of Printworks have revealed their intentions to bring back the popular London superclub in the upcoming years, after concluding the closing events last weekend.

The Surrey Quays venue opened in 2017 but has now shut its doors to the dance music world due to planned development in the area.

Printworks, which concluded its closing weekend parties over the past weekend, has made a provisional deal with British Land to return to the same site in 2026.

The venue had previously announced in September 2022 that the 2023 spring season would be its last for several years as journalist Ed Gillett reported in The Guardian.

In an interview with Gillett, Broadwick Live’s strategy director Simeon Aldred confirmed that the future Printworks venue will retain the signature aesthetics and history of the former newspaper printing plant, specifically by keeping the main room similar to the Press Halls.

Aldred repeated the Printworks concept in a later statement saying, “We are delighted to announce that Printworks hopes to return in three years and that we will continue to work with our partners at British Land to create the future cultural venue that retains the essence of the iconic Press Halls.”

The 53-acre Surrey Quays site, which is currently the location of Printworks, is slated to be redeveloped by developers British Land and AustralianSuper into a complex of luxurious flats, commercial establishments, shops, and restaurants.

Last night marked the final Printworks event featuring surprise guests Bicep, who closed out the Press Halls with their song “Glue” along with Peggy Gou, Dixon, DJ Koze, and other notable performers.
