Berlin’s famous Rave The Planet parade is back this weekend.
This Saturday, August 15, hundreds of thousands of ravers will once again flood the streets of the German capital for the famed moving techno festival, carrying forward the spirit of the city’s historic Love Parade for a fifth consecutive year.
In a rebirth of the massive gathering that ran annually in Berlin for the better part of 20 years, Rave The Planet invites music lovers from around the world to join together in its famous “demonstration for peace, diversity, and humanity, powered by the spirit of electronic music.”
Spread across 34 different parade floats, this year’s procession will feature performances from more than 300 international artists, including star DJs such as Anna Tur, Hannah Laing, Juliet Fox, Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber, Pan-Pot, Shay De Castro, and many more. From Bootshaus to Club OST and beyond, dozens of clubs and local music collectives will host their own floats.
The original Love Parade was founded as a combined political protest and party by Berlin DJ Dr. Motte in July 1989. Its legend only grew after the fall of the Berlin Wall gave birth to the city’s rapidly emerging techno scene months later, attracting more than a million annual demonstrators at the height of its popularity, before being dissolved after a tragic crowd crush claimed the lives of 21 people in 2010.
Now, after coming back to life as Rave The Planet in 2022, the event amplifies the same message of compassion, respect, and unity for a new generation of ravers.
