Morrison, Colorado’s famed Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre was the world’s No. 4 best-attended entertainment venue in 2023.
Located just outside of Denver, the scenic outdoor amphitheater known for its towering sandstone rock formations welcomed 1.4 million attendees last year, according to Billboard’s “2023 Year-End Boxscore Chart,” placing it as the No. 1 best-attended outdoor venue in the United States, in addition to the No. 4 worldwide ranking for venues of any kind.
When it came to total attendance, Red Rocks was only eclipsed by London’s O2 Arena (2.4 million tickets sold), Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium (2 million tickets sold), and NYC’s Madison Square Garden (1.6 million tickets sold). Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional was close behind Red Rocks at No. 5, with 2023 attendance numbers also clocked at roughly 1.4 million.
Red Rocks also placed at No. 3 in the Billboard report’s “Top Venues (5,001-10K Capacity)” category, which ranks venues based on their gross earnings. Red Rocks pulled in $103.5 million over the course of 174 shows in 2023, behind NYC’s Radio City Music Hall and Las Vegas’ Dolby Live, which reported gross earnings of $122 million and $115.3 million, respectively.
Building upon a successful 2022 season that saw the venue bring in $717 million to the Denver metro area, Red Rocks’ landmark 2023 included performances from notable electronic artists like Skrillex, Zeds Dead, Alison Wonderland, Nicole Moudaber and Carl Cox, who made his long-awaited venue debut in October.
Red Rocks has already confirmed electronic acts such as Dom Dolla, Liquid Stranger, Ganja White Night, Anjunadeep Open Air and more for 2024, further bolstering its status as an EDM mecca.
