Live techno king Reinier Zonneveld made music history on Saturday, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest electronic music live set.
Zonneveld’s performance captivated the crowd at the inaugural Karren Maar Festival in Arnhem, Holland, running for an incredible 11 hours and 11 minutes.
Playing the entire set solo, Zonneveld started at 12:49PM and ended at precisely 12AM, breaking the previous record by 11 minutes.
The record-breaking performance was officially certified by a Guinness World Records representative and featured Zonneveld’s hallmark live composition, using hardware instruments like analog synths, drum machines, and samplers.
Reflecting on the achievement, Zonneveld said:
“Karren Maar festival was an extraordinary journey of sound and connection. Playing for 11 hours and 11 minutes allowed me to deep dive into the essence of my music, exploring uncharted territories of emotion and energy.”
He continued, “It was a humbling experience to witness the support and energy from the crowd, creating a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. I am grateful for the opportunity to have shared this unforgettable experience with everyone present, as we pushed the boundaries of what’s possible in the world of electronic music.”
Zonneveld’s Filth on Acid label also hosted its own stage at Karren Maar, inviting talents like Speedy J, Zeltak, and Space 92 to throw down during a weekend that championed techno music from around the globe.
Zonneveld’s highly-anticipated fifth album will release next month and features the new single “Music Is The Answer.” The track was reportedly a fan-favorite at Kaaren Maar alongside “Keine Liebe, Kein Rave,” “Dance With The Devil,” and Space 92’s Remix of “Inferno” with Carl Cox.
The titan of techno will perform at Nibirii Festival in Cologne, Germany later this month before making stops at Amnesia Ibiza, The Warehouse Project, Escape Halloween, and a special B2B show at Awakenings ADE in October.
