Today, deep house producer Rinzen has unveiled his anticipated debut concept album, Bend to the Light, slated for release via Lane 8’s This Never Happened imprint on April 5, 2024.
“I love writing concept EPs with a glimpse into other worlds, so now with my album I wanted to make a bigger artistic statement, build a bigger story,” the Los Angeles-based artist shared in press release.
He continued, “In lockdown, freed from writing club tracks, I fell in love with making art that wasn’t tied to functionality. I took all my best tracks from just showing up at the studio for 2.5 years for this album.”
To mark the occasion, Rinzen has dropped off the first single from the forthcoming project, “Burnin’” with Shallou. Evoking echoes of a “seemingly endless universe,” the new track features a rumbling bass synth melody, punctuated with subtle breakbeats in a lengthy build-up to Shallou’s dreamy vocals.
This cinematic style is also evident in Rinzen’s deep catalog of club cuts, shared on several renowned labels like This Never Happened, mau5trap, Desert Hearts and John Digweed‘s Bedrock. His extended sets at clubbing institutions like Stereo Montreal, Elsewhere Brooklyn and Sound LA have captivated loyal fans with a talent for immense storytelling, honed in the artist’s early days as a respected dance music journalist and editor.
Another two singles from Rinzen’s Bend to the Light LP will also arrive before the full album release this spring. Fans can pre-save the album here.
