RL Grime has officially revealed the name and concept behind his third album; a three-part experience called PLAY alongside a 14-date North American Tour.
PLAY consists of 21 tracks separated into three fully-curated, seven-track experiences called APEX, GRID, and RUSH.
The trap pioneer and festival headliner further elaborated on the release in a post on his Instagram Story, explaining the album is meant to contain specific soundtracks for every occasion.
APEX is high-energy and made for the festival crowd. This section was mixed to recreate the festival experience and inject adrenaline straight through the music.
GRID is full of addictive collaborations. These anthems will be singable, with epic melodies and hooks made for connection.
Finally, RUSH, is all about flow, experimenting with deep musical inspirations from smooth house and techno for a completely new experience from RL Grime.
The concept can be seen in a video posted on RL Grime’s social media that showcases the gamified concept behind the three-part LP and teases several new tracks off the upcoming album.
Alongside this momentous album, RL Grime will also be heading out on a 14-date North American tour with JAWNS and 33 Below.
Beginning in October, he will start at San Diego’s Gallagher Square before jetting off to Chicago, Atlanta, New York, and more.
