Today, RÜFÜS DU SOL shared new details on its awaited fifth studio album, Inhale / Exhale.
Set to arrive on October 11 via the group’s own Rose Avenue label in partnership with Reprise Records, the 15-track LP will mark the Australian electronic trio’s first full-length album since 2021’s Surrender, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, and featured the Grammy-winning single, “Alive.”
Inhale / Exhale is said to mark a “new creative groove for the band” in which they’ve keyed in on the organic process of “creating from the now,” and “encompasses the themes that have endeared fans for over a decade—romance, heartbreak, euphoria, despair—through a medley of sprawling, mature soundscapes,” according to a press release.
Alongside the announcement, RÜFÜS DU SOL has released its new single, “Break My Love,” which joins previously shared tracks “Music is Better” and “Lately” as the third single from Inhale / Exhale. Check out the full tracklist below.
In line with the “Innerbloom” trio’s penchant for richly textured sound design and emotional lyricism, “Break My Love” tells a tale of unwavering devotion, as lead vocalist Tyrone Lindqvist sings, “You can’t break my love, it’s yours to take, we got more to make,” over atmospheric synths and a steady midtempo beat.
After popping up around the country for several surprise DJ set performances at Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, and most recently, Burning Man, RÜFÜS DU SOL will play its only standalone live show of the year at San Francisco’s Portola Music Festival later this month. The band will also be the sole electronic headliner at all three South American editions of Lollapalooza in 2025.
