MOCA Teams Up With Insomniac & Secret Project For Party/Afterparty Sessions

Renowned techno DJ and producer Carl Craig takes the club vibe to a whole new level with “Party/After-Party Sessions” – a three-part concert series at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, featuring live sets from internationally acclaimed DJs.

MOCA x Insomniac and Secret Project invite dance music lovers to celebrate the pioneers of techno as they present the three-part series alongside the exhibition “Carl Craig: Party/After-Party” drawing on Craig’s 30-year career as an internationally touring DJ.

The concert series starts on May 25 with DJ Holographic, Carl Craig, and others performing. On Saturday, June 17, Kenny Larkin, Kyle Hall, and Rimarkable will also play. The concert series will then end on Saturday, July 22 with sets by Moodymann, DJ Minx, and Erno.

Secret Project emerged from Los Angeles’ thriving underground music scene, known for its rare melding of underground music curation and art installations.

This distinctive blend of art forms has led to its remarkable success, with Secret Project events drawing large crowds and leaving a lasting impression in cities such as Miami, Amsterdam, and Portugal.

The Party/After-Party exhibition takes visitors on a sonic journey through a club night. From the pre-party anticipation to the pulsating apex and the melancholic after-party, the exhibition captures the collective emotions experienced on a club dance floor.

Insomniac and Secret Project are hosting Party/After Party Sessions as part of Wonmi’s WAREHOUSE Programs for the Spring/Summer 2023 season at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, which includes new commissions, music festivals, and residencies.

A battle with epilepsy could not stop me from finding the rave community or pursuing my passion to write. I was a journalism major at my college writing about sports when my condition took me out of my classes and stuck me in my home to focus on bills and get healthy. Once I got my seizures under control through medication I decided to face my fear of crowds and lasers in order to finally experience house music in festival fashion at Day Trip 2021. I quickly learned that I could continue to rave and manage my condition simultaneously. Then a raver was born! I love house and techno the most, which ironically are the genres that even brought my parents together. The dance music culture and community has connected me with the opportunity to write about my passion, the best of friends, a lover, and good and bad experiences that continue to grow me as a person. I'm based in Southern California let's catch a set!
