The U.S. bass capital is set to welcome UK dubstep royalty this spring.
Today, The Black Box Denver has announced a special four-night run of shows from Skream, Benga and SGT Pokes, with all three legendary genre pioneers slated to perform open-to-close sets on April 23 and April 25-27, 2024.
The announcement follows a return to the limelight for both Skream and Benga in recent months.
Over the last decade, Skream has dabbled in nearly every genre thinkable, from house and techno to breaks and Nudisco, breaking out from the bass-forward sounds with which he helped define an entire genre in the 2000s to early 2010s.
With the release of his eighth Skreamizm EP in September 2023, the dubstep innovator has now gone back to his bass roots, playing deliberately marked “dubstep sets” at festivals like Okeechobee and Lightning in a Bottle, in addition to his own Skreamizm club nights at fabric.
The very same club night saw Skream team back up with his dubstep partner-in-crime Benga in October, setting the tone for another epic performance for Boiler Room in Liverpool last weekend, which featured Benga’s first solo set in 10 years.
Skream and Benga will continue to perform together throughout the summer, with B2B sets planned for Coachella and another Boiler Room gig in London this August.
As momentum builds, the pair has now recruited another UK legend in SGT Pokes, who will make a rare U.S. appearance amid a relatively quieter international touring schedule.
This already iconic dubstep meeting-of-the-minds is even more special for local Denver promoter Sub.mission, who have organized the legendary reunion 17 years on from booking Benga as their first-ever international headliner in 2007.
Tickets for Skream, Benga and SGT Pokes at The Black Box Denver will go on sale here, this Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10AM MT.
