Dubstep pioneer and musical polymath Skream has released his first dubstep track in ten years. The tune is a six-minute banger called “Summoned,” and its out now on fabric Originals.
“Summoned” is his first solo dubstep track since 2013’s Skreamizm Vol 7 and follows the traditional UK style of dubstep, not the “brostep” many are familiar with made popular by Skrillex and Excision.
The track is epic, with a horn intro, jungle beats, and barely audible breathing that adds a feeling of chaos before dropping into an exotic breakdown.
Skream is one of the originators of dubstep, currently venturing into house, techno, and garage which he demonstrated surprise back-to-back with Seth Troxler at CRSSD 2023.
But the seasoned artist has done plenty of throwback dubstep sets in recent years including a back-to-back with Rusko at EDC 2019, a throwback set at HARD Summer 2021, and a surprise set at the Do Lab at Coachella 2022.
