For the first time in 14 years, Skrillex is playing in Seattle.
After weeks of teasers and hype, the electronic music icon today confirmed he’ll headline Gas Works Park for a crowd of nearly 10,000 on Saturday, August 29. The daytime show marks his first appearance in the city since he headlined Bumbershoot festival inside KeyArena (now Climate Pledge Arena) in 2012.
Less than a week after dropping “Make It Bun Dem,” he was then a rapidly emerging new star, having just rewritten the rules of dubstep with his breakout EPs, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites and Bangarang. Now, after more than a decade away, he returns to the city as a Grammy-winning superstar, known as one of the most influential artists in electronic music history.
Fresh off the release of his sixth studio album, SOMA, Skrillex will be joined at the 19-acre greenspace on the North bank of Lake Union by a stacked bill of support performances from Porter Robinson, Dylan Brady, Nick León, underscores, and a surprise special guest.
Rumors of the legendary producer and DJ’s awaited return began to swirl earlier this month when Skrillex posted a message to X that simply read “Seattle?” Yesterday, he further fanned the flames of anticipation with another post on X, featuring a photo of the park’s famously unique industrial structures, left over from the site’s previous use as a coal gasification plant.
