The era-defining and Grammy-winning electronic music producer, Skrillex, has finally released one of the most highly anticipated albums of this decade. His first full-length album since 2014, Quest For Fire, is finally here.
After selling out multiple shows in London and New York City with his beloved friends Fred Again.. and Four Tet in the past few weeks, it’s safe to say Skrillex is his own movement in the electronic music community.
The last time Skrillex, real name Sonny Moore, released a full-length album was in 2014 with Recess. Being Skrillex’s debut studio album, after solidifying his name in the dance community, the wait for the next album has been bussing within electronic music for years.
According to his social media pages, Skrillex has been working on the album since 2019, and you can feel the emotion of different time periods over the years in each track.
Coming out of hiding back in January, Skrillex released the innovative banger “Rumble” featuring Fred Again.. and Flowdan which went viral after Fred Again dropped it in his infamous Boiler Room set.
Not long after he continued to break his streak by releasing “Leave Me Like This” featuring Bobby Raps, followed by trap heavy single “Xena” featuring Palestinian singer and composer Nai Barghouti.
Skrillex took to Instagram to tease the album earlier this week with clips of a basement set that contains longer versions of every single as well as the full tracklist.
Quest For Fire contains collaborations with stars like Aluna, Missy Elliot, and Porter Robinson. Also included are previously released chart-toppers to spice up the album including “Butterflies” feat. Starrah and Four Tet and a VIP of “Supersonic (My Existence)” feat. Noisia, Josh Pan, and Dylan Brady.
