Skrillex Triumphantly Returns To Red Rocks With An Emotional 5 Hour Set

The FOMO came thick and fast this weekend for fans who couldn’t make it to Skrillex’s triumphant return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday – his first performance at the venue since 2014.

Dubbed “An Evening with Skrillex,” the show was another mountaintop moment along the dubstep icon’s guerilla return to the live stage.

Fresh from closing Coachella with best buds and fellow superproducers Fred again.. and Four Tet, Skrillex took the stage for five hours, open to close. Skrillex wrote on Instagram today saying, “The atmosphere was magical” and it was one of the best days of his life.

Skrillex even teased the possibility of more marathon shows in the future, calling the show his “first” ‘evening with’ event and soliciting suggestions for potential locations.

After tickets sold out in record time – due to bots and resellers dominating the marketplace – AEG announced a lottery would allow fans a second shot at securing passes to the epochal performance.

With tickets reclaimed, attendees were treated to an intimate set, which Skrillex began by playing in the middle of the crowd on Red Rocks’ famous steps.

With five hours to kill, he played from a deep catalog including unreleased collaborations with Burna Boy, Hamdi, and ISOxo, as well as fan-favorites from years gone by, like “Bangarang,” “Make It Bun Dem” and “Cinema.”

A dichotomous cornerstone of the emotionally exhilarating and radiant event, Skrillex even played a stirring rendition of “Emily” – an emo track released by his former band, From First To Last, in 2004.

After starting 2023 by releasing two albums in two weeks – and teasing two more soon to come – Skrillex will continue to pop up and pop off this summer, with bookings at major festivals including Movement, Primavera Sound, Parklife, HARD Summer, and Elements.
