The voice behind the original viral sample of Skrillex’s “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” has finally reunited with the famed producer.
On a fateful day over a decade ago, Rachael Nedrow filmed herself speed-stacking cups and posted it on the internet.
Her yell of excitement, “Yes, OH MY GOSH,” was heard by an electronic producer whose name is Skrillex (pun intended) and sampled into a new song released in 2010 called “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” which would ultimately skyrocket him to stardom.
Now 12 years later, the two have reunited at Skrillex’s five-hour set at Red Rocks Amphitheatre as Nedrow wrote on her social media saying, “April 29. Wow. What an incredible evening. An electrifying five-hour set at Red Rocks then reuniting on my 28th birthday after 12 years.”
She continued, “Just two human beings, connected through a moment of pure joy, spreading moments of ‘OH MY GOSH’ euphoria across the globe millions of times over. I’m just mind-blown. ”
Skrillex’s extended set at Red Rocks, dubbed “An Evening with Skrillex,” was his first headlining set back at the iconic venue since 2014, the same year he released his debut album, Recess.
