Last night, Skrillex drummed up some serious commotion on social media, teasing more than 15 minutes of unreleased music via Instagram Stories.
Among the shared tracks are several coveted unreleased productions from Skrillex’s breakout days in the scene–circa 2010-2014–including fan-nicknamed IDs like “Battlefield,” “Jurassic” and “Spitfire.”
Without much added context, the posts themselves remain quite cryptic. Still, many fans have begun to speculate that the nine-time Grammy-winning producer could soon unload some of the 49 teased tracks to celebrate Recess’ upcoming 10-year anniversary in March.
In addition to an abundance of red-hot oldies, Skrillex also shared a handful of rumored collaborations with rising trap producer and production protege ISOxo. Getting in on the hype himself, ISOxo reposted one of Skrillex’s clips and added a screenshot of the pair chatting on FaceTime, in turn bolstering rumors that new music could be on the way soon.
On top of releasing Don’t Get To Close and his Grammy-nominated Quest For Fire in 2023, Skrillex took particular care to tease two more rumored projects in April of last year. In another cryptic social media post, he wrote “QFF, DGTC, SKRLX, CONTRA 23,” suggesting that two more Skrillex albums–SKRLX and CONTRA–are still due to be released.
Both of these rumored projects remain unconfirmed at the time of writing, but with his recent activity on social media, it appears that the electronic music icon is gearing up for another massive year in 2024.
