SoDown Shares Mega Funky New EP, ‘Get Up’

Funk music and bass music have always shared a special relationship. The wonky sounds, the creative rhythms. They just plain work together, and the latest EP from the saxophonist and bass producer SoDown continues this fruitful bond.

The EP is entitled Get Up, and it includes three tracks of various sonic textures. The lead single and title track, which is a collaboration with the seasoned veteran of the sound, Defunk, trades off between dubstep and burning afrobeat horn passages.

“Badboi Sound” is a history lesson in its presentation, demonstrating the reggae and island roots of bass music before advancing through time on the interstellar pathway of modern sound design. Finally, “Serious Dub” is just that: serious. Seriously heavy. Seriously raucous. It will seriously tear up the dance floor as festival season approaches.
