Spotify Launches New Hyper-Personalized Daily Playlist: The Daylist

Yesterday, Spotify introduced a new personalized playlist offering called “daylist,” an ever-evolving collection of music that changes with a user’s moods throughout the day.

In a press release, Spotify said the “one-of-a-kind” playlist “ebbs and flows with unique vibes, bringing together niche music and microgenres you usually listen to during particular moments in the day or on specific days of the week.”

Daylist will update multiple times in a given day, with new tracks and a fun new playlist title based on the user’s historical engagement on the app.

If you tend to listen to upbeat music to start your day, Spotify will set you up with happy tracks in the morning—those who wake up headbanging can expect an early dose of dubstep.

Spotify has gone super niche to describe its playlist curation and connect users with their own “unique audio identity,” using sample tags like thrillwave, happy dance, pumpkin spice, and more.

The new feature is an expansion of Spotify’s “Niche Mixes” function, which launched in March, allowing users to create personalized mixes by searching for description words that relate more to aesthetic, as opposed to musical genre.

Along with changing playlist cover graphics, daylist includes a built-in sharing feature and the ability to save the custom playlist directly to your library.

Daylist is now available for both free and premium Spotify users in English-speaking markets: the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. The feature will expand to other countries in the coming months.

Users can find their daylist by searching “daylist” in the Spotify app or by clicking here.
