Late last week, Grammy-nominated producer and cake enthusiast Steve Aoki announced the release date for his forthcoming 10th studio album: HiROQUEST: Double Helix.
The LP will arrive on November 17, 2023, and features collaborations with Paris Hilton, Akon, Galantis, Timmy Trumpet, and more.
The album will be an extension of Aoki’s 2022 LP HiROQUEST: Genesis, embracing “a sense of nostalgia for the early days of Aoki’s career while also pushing dance music into the future.”
Alongside the album announcement, Aoki has released an electro rework of Akon’s 2003 hit “Locked Up” in collaboration with French duo Trinix, as well as a fun claymation music video.
Of the new project, Aoki said, “HiROQUEST is an entire world I crafted around an enigmatic character named HiRO. Part I was largely driven by my alt-music roots in hardcore punk bands. Now, the story continues on Double Helix, which embraces dance culture while intertwining the pulse of contemporary Latin music.”
Aoki debuted a number of singles from HiROQUEST: Double Helix during his headline performance on the main stage at Tomorrowland Weekend 2 last month.
During the performance, Aoki was joined by stars like Paris Hilton, Kid Cudi, Lil’ Jon, and more.
