Steve Aoki has teamed up with Lil Jon to release “Get Lower,” an epic dance music rework of Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz‘s 2003 hip-hop classic, “Get Low.”
The new track, out now on Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, sees the two music icons celebrate more than a decade of friendship, which first blossomed on their 2011 single “Turbulence” and has since led to three more collaborative releases. The “King of Crunk” even joined Aoki on stage for his performance at Tomorrowland in 2023.
Celebrating the 20th anniversary of “Get Low” with an updated electro house twist, “Get Lower” successfully revives one of the most popular songs of the Y2K era, which catapulted crunk, a subgenre of southern hip-hop, to mainstream recognition in the early 2000s.
All of Lil Jon’s beloved ad-libs, including his famed “To the window, To the wall” call-and-response lyric, feature on the track, setting the tone for a superclub-ready beat drop from Aoki.
“Jon and I have been friends for years, and whenever we get together on a track, it’s a party,” Aoki said in a press release. “When we performed at Tomorrowland last year, the energy was off the charts, and we knew we had to create another festival anthem. ‘Get Low’ is one of the most hype tracks of all time, and it’s an honor to work with Jon to bring it back for the next generation.”
